Scheduled Course Offerings
Spring 2009
Course Description
This course provides students with the opportunity to develop and refine visual design skills, building upon students’ previous foundation of digital imaging, XHTML and CSS markup, and understanding of usability and accessibility. Students develop an awareness of various Web design styles and genre. They will also develop proficiency through the intermediate level in the use of Web development software, Adobe Dreamweaver.
This is an advanced web design class. You should complete DMA C102 and DMA C111 before enrolling in this course. DMA C113 should be taken concurrently with this course. To do well in this class you should plan to dedicate between 8-12 hours per week to class activities, homework, and assignments (This assumes a 16-week Fall or Spring semester. Summer semesters are of a shorter duration, which increases the weekly workload.)
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful complete of this course, the student will be
able to:
- Design and produce visually attractive, usable, accessible, and interactive Web content that takes the intended audience needs and expectations into account.
- Use Dreamweaver’s features to create Web content that correctly separates semantic encoding from content.
- Use Dreamweaver for collaboration and testing.
Course Requirements
Students must have their textbook(s) and software the first day of class. If you anticipate any shipment delays from a particuluar retailer, you should find an alternate source that has the product in stock and ships overnight.

- troubleshooting operating system errors
- navigating the Web
- researching the Web
